We invite you to participate in our conference that will be held in Metropolitan College, Thessaloniki, Greece on 29 Nov – 1 Dec, 2019.
It’s a 3 day event, with presentations delivered by researchers from the international community, including presentations from keynote speakers and state-of-the-art lectures.
All registered papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference and special issue journals.

Dr Athanasios Staveris-Polykalas, as a Special Advisor of Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, is among other tasks, responsible for the establishment of the National Cyber Security Authority in Greece.
Cybersecurity is the platform on which the Digital Strategy of this Administration is based. The following years technology will provide us with many tools which will enhance our everyday life, on the same time, we will have to phase the new threats. It is of critical importance to prepare for the next decade, and build robust, resilient digital infrastructures and be able to defend them.
He has more than 10 years hands-on professional experience in large IT systems and more than 7 years academic experience in data analysis in High Energy physics as phD candidate in Kapodistrian University of Athens- Physics Department.
He co-founded a successful start-up company, that is analyzing EU procurement data to extract intelligence from text, using Natural Language Processing, and advance information extraction techniques.

Professor Miltos Petridis

Prof Miltos Petridis DipEng Phd MBA, μΤΕΕ MBCS MIET MACM, Professor of Computer Science, Head of the Department of Computer Science Faculty of Science & Technology Middlesex University London.
Professor Miltos Petridis is the Head of the Department of Computer Science at Middlesex University London and a Professor of Computer Science. His research interests span the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Case Based Reasoning (CBR), Software Engineering, Intelligent Agents and Machine Learning (ML). He has 30 years’ experience of applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques in a business context including a number of industrial collaboration projects. He has secured a large number of grants, including European, EPSRC, Leverhulme and Innovate UK funded projects. He is the author of over 150 peer-refereed papers in the areas of applied Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering. He has been teaching in the areas of Data Mining and its applications at postgraduate level for over 20 years and has supervised successfully 24 PhD students in the area.
He is a committee member of the British Computer Society (BCS) Specialist Group in Artificial Intelligence and is the Applications Chair of the Annual AI-20XX conference for the last 10 years. He was the founding chair of the Real-AI annual event organised by the BCS, chaired the UKKDD (UK Knowledge Discovery in Data) symposium and chairs the annual UKCBR (Case-based-Reasoning) symposium at Peterhouse, Cambridge since 2005.
Prof Petridis’ research interests focus on a novel spatio-temporal reasoning approach based on a formal theory of time and space. This work is applied in the context of the Case-based Reasoning technique and methodology and combined with other ML techniques to solve real-world problems. During the past 15 years Prof Petridis has been concentrating on the automation of Business Workflows with the development of AI techniques for monitoring and planning of processes. This work employs a variety of AI techniques, including hybrid AI approaches, ML, High Performance Computing techniques for Big Data and Explanation-Aware Computing. Prof Petridis’ research work has been successfully applied through various industrial collaborative projects in Engineering, Marketing, Business Process Engineering, Finance, Security, Transport and Health.

During this period, he also served as the CEO of “Singular Bulgaria” and “Singular Romania”, as the Vice President of “Internet Hellas”, “Delta Singular Training Center” and as Executive Director and member of the BoD of “Delta Singular”.
Mr. Anastasios Tzikas has also been exceptionally socially active by participating as a member in:
• the Dialogue Committee appointed by the Greek Prime Minister for the Constitutional Revision.
Last but not least, he has been nominated as Honorary President of the «Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications Enterprises – SEPE», in which he served as President for 8 years.
Professor Yannis Charalabidis
Associate Professor, University of the Aegean
Head, Digital Governance Research Center
Yannis Charalabidis is Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering of the University of Aegean. In parallel, he serves as Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit of the University, designing and managing youth entrepreneurship activities, and Head of Information Systems Laboratory, coordinating policy making, research and pilot application projects for governments and enterprises worldwide. He has more than 20 years of experience in designing, implementing, managing and applying complex information systems as project manager, in Greece and Europe, designing and leading several FP5, FP6, FP7 and HORIZON projects.
He has been employed for 8 years as an executive director in SingularLogic Group, leading software development and company expansion in Greece, Eastern Europe, India and the US. He has been also employed for 7 years as Chief Scientist at the Greek Interoperability Center of the National Technical University of Athens.
He has published more than 10 books and 200 papers in international journals and conferences, while actively participating in international standardisation committees and scientific bodies. During the past years he has been teaching as an invited professor at UC Berkeley, TU Delft, Stevens Institute, State University New York, University of Washington, City University Hong Kong, Swinburne University and Wollongong University Australia.
In 2016 he was nominated as the 8th most productive writer in the world, among 10.000 scholars in the Electronic Government domain, according to the Washington University survey. He is Best Paper Award winner in the International IFIP e-Government Conference (2008,2012, 2016), winner of the first prize in OMG / Business Process Modelling contest (2009) and 2nd prize winner in the European eGovernment Awards (2009). As of August 2018, Yannis is among the 100 most influential people in Digital Governance worldwide, according to the apolitica.co list.

Dr Alex Vakaloudis
Senior Researcher & Software Development Team Lead, Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland
Dr Alex Vakaloudis works on and actively researchers Industrial IoT in the Nimbus Research Centre of the Cork Institute of Technology. After gaining an MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Thessaloniki, Greece, Alex completed his MPhil and PhD in Spatio-temporal databases at UMIST, Manchester in 1999. His next position was in the Politechnico in Milan for a one-year postdoc tenure and then worked in the IT industry in London building e-commerce, mobile and betting applications based on J2EE/Oracle. In 2006, he moved back to Greece where he taught as a part-time lecturer in the University of Macedonia while building server and web-based applications for health management, e-learning and IPTV.
At the Nimbus Technology Gateway in CIT for the last 7 years, he has delivered solutions on cloud support for IoT deployments, configurable predictive maintenance, test rigs for medical devices and innovation and ideation management among 100+ industrial projects.
Alex is a certified AWS Architect and has received funding from H2020. Enterprise Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland, Irish Resourch Council, Google and AWS. He leads the team of Software and Enterprise solutions with expertise in back-end and front-end development, relational and NoSQL databases, cloud computing (AWS Academy/Educate/Activate Programmes, GCP, Azure), machine learning and collaborates with the user experience and electronics teams at Nimbus towards producing full, end-to-end IIoT solutions.
The team has worked at the design and implementation of conversational agents for well-being, training (school/factory) and entertainment use cases on persona definition, dialog and work-flow specification and implementation using cloud and open-source frameworks.
